Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 September 2026

This policy explains what information the Sling mobile app (“Sling”, “we”, “us”) collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. Sling lets you pack notes, photos, files and places into a bundle and share the whole thing at once.

The short version. Your bundles are stored in your own account so they sync across your devices. We use Google Firebase to run the service, RevenueCat for subscriptions, Google Maps for the place picker, and (for people on the free plan) Google AdMob for ads. We don’t sell your personal information. You can delete your account and all its content from inside the app at any time.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Sling is operated by the app’s developer, contactable at softwareandstock@gmail.com. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, the developer is the “data controller” for the personal data described here.

2. Information we collect

Account information

Content you create

Location

Sling requests your device’s location only when you open the “Add a place” picker, and only to centre the map on where you are. You can decline; the picker still works, it just starts from a default view. The coordinates that get stored are the ones you choose for a place. We convert coordinates to a street address using a geocoding service so the place is readable.

Diagnostics and usage

Notifications

A Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token for your app installation, so we can send you notifications if that feature is used. You can turn notifications off in your device settings.

Subscriptions and purchases

If you buy Sling Pro, the purchase is handled by the App Store or Google Play and managed through RevenueCat. We and RevenueCat receive your subscription status, purchase and renewal events, the store transaction identifiers, country, and an app-user identifier (which is your Sling account ID). We never receive your full card number.

Advertising (free plan only)

People who are not subscribed to Sling Pro see ads served by Google AdMob. To do this, AdMob may access your device’s advertising identifier, IP-address-derived coarse location, information about the ads shown and tapped, and similar data used to serve and measure ads. Subscribing to Pro removes all ads.

Anti-abuse

Firebase App Check issues an attestation token for your app installation so our servers can reject traffic that doesn’t come from a genuine copy of Sling.

3. How we use your information

When you tap Share, Sling hands your bundle to your device’s system share sheet and you choose the destination app (for example WhatsApp, email or a notes app). What that app then does with the content is governed by its privacy policy, not this one.

4. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)

PurposeLegal basis
Running your account and storing/syncing your bundlesPerformance of a contract
Crash diagnostics, security and anti-abuseLegitimate interests (a reliable, secure app)
Subscriptions and billingPerformance of a contract; legal obligation (tax/accounting)
Device location for the place pickerConsent (the OS permission prompt)

You can withdraw consent at any time by changing the relevant permission in your device settings or by subscribing to Pro (for ads).

5. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make Sling work, and only for the purposes above:

ProviderWhat it does for Sling
Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, App Check, Hosting)Runs the accounts, database, file storage, crash reporting, notifications and this website
Google AdMobServes ads to users on the free plan
Google Maps Platform (Maps SDK, Geocoding API)Displays the map and converts coordinates to addresses
RevenueCatManages Sling Pro subscriptions
AppleSign in with Apple and App Store billing
Google PlayPlay billing for subscriptions

These providers act as our processors (or, for their own advertising and platform purposes, as independent controllers). Google’s handling of data is also described in the Google Privacy Policy. We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users or the public.

6. Where your data is processed

Sling’s Firebase project is hosted in Google’s us-central region, and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data is transferred out of the EEA or the UK, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How long we keep it

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have some or all of these rights: to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to receive a copy in a portable format, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise them, use the in-app controls described below or email softwareandstock@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Deleting your data

You can delete everything yourself: open Sling, go to Settings → your account → Delete account. This removes your profile document, all your bundles, and the photos and files stored for them. If you signed in with Google or Apple, this also removes the link to that identity. If you cannot access the app, email us and we will delete your data within 30 days of verifying your request.

10. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to your bundles is scoped to your account by server-side security rules, and Firebase App Check blocks requests that don’t come from a genuine build of the app. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children

Sling is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or under the age of digital consent in your country, which is 16 in parts of the EEA). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Your advertising and tracking choices

13. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Sling after a change means you accept the updated policy.
