Terms of Use
Last updated: 1 September 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and the developer of the Sling mobile app (“Sling”, “we”, “us”) — an independent individual developer, not a company. By downloading or using Sling you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Who may use Sling
You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your country and to hold an App Store or Google Play account (generally at least 13, or older where your local law requires). If you use Sling on behalf of someone else, you confirm you are authorised to accept these Terms for them.
2. Your licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Sling on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and the rules of the app store you downloaded it from. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sub-licence, reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it. We and our licensors keep all rights in the app, its name, logo and design that are not expressly granted to you.
3. Your account
Sling creates an anonymous account for you on first launch so you can use it without signing up. You may later add a Google, Apple or email sign-in to back up and sync your bundles. You are responsible for the devices and sign-in credentials used to access your account and for everything done through it. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
4. Your content
“Your content” means everything you put into Sling — bundle names and descriptions, notes, photos, files and saved places. You keep all rights in your content. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, back up, transmit, display and process your content only to operate and provide Sling to you (for example, to sync it to your other devices or hand it to the system share sheet when you tap Share). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained briefly in routine backups.
You are responsible for your content. You confirm that you have the rights needed to store and share it and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights or break any law.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Sling to:
- store or share content that is unlawful, infringing, fraudulent, defamatory, hateful, or that depicts or promotes the exploitation or abuse of children;
- store or share malware, or content that violates someone’s privacy or intellectual-property rights;
- interfere with, overload, or disrupt the app or the servers and networks behind it;
- circumvent, disable or tamper with security, authentication (including App Check), storage limits, subscription checks or other technical measures;
- access the service by automated means or resell, rent or commercially exploit it without our written permission.
We may remove content or suspend or terminate access to Sling if we reasonably believe these Terms have been broken, if required by law, or to protect the service or its users.
6. Sling Pro subscriptions
- What it is. Sling Pro is an optional auto-renewable subscription that raises your storage allowance and removes ads. The free version of Sling remains available with a smaller storage allowance and ads.
- Billing. Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase. The price, currency and billing interval are shown to you before you buy and may vary by region and over time.
- Auto-renewal. The subscription renews automatically for the same interval at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Managing and cancelling. You manage and cancel the subscription in your App Store account (Settings → your name → Subscriptions) or Google Play account (Play Store → Payments & subscriptions), not inside Sling. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the paid period.
- Free trials or introductory offers, if offered, convert to a paid subscription at the standard price unless cancelled before the offer ends. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Refunds. Payments are handled by Apple or Google and are generally non-refundable except where required by law or the store’s own policy. Refund requests go to Apple or Google, not to us.
- Price changes. If we change the subscription price, the new price applies to renewals after we have given you notice as required by the app store, and you may cancel before it takes effect.
7. Ads
If you are not subscribed to Sling Pro, the app shows advertising provided by Google AdMob. How ad data is handled is described in our Privacy Policy. Subscribing to Pro removes ads.
8. Third-party services and sharing
Sling relies on services from Google (Firebase, Maps, AdMob, Play billing), Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store billing) and RevenueCat. Your use of the app is also subject to the terms and policies of the app store you downloaded it from. When you tap Share and choose another app to send your bundle to, that transfer and anything the receiving app does with your content are governed by that app’s terms and privacy policy, not these Terms.
9. Availability and changes to the app
We may add, change, suspend or remove features, or stop offering Sling or Sling Pro, at any time. We will try to give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce the service, and if we discontinue a paid feature you have already paid for, you may be entitled to a pro-rata refund of the unused period through the app store.
10. Not a backup service — disclaimers
Sling is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that your content will always be available or retained. Keep your own copies of anything important. Sling is not a substitute for a backup solution.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory laws of your country that cannot legally be waived.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, content, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) Sling. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to Sling will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for Sling Pro in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 20.
12. Indemnity
You agree to reimburse us for reasonable losses and costs (including legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the app, to the extent such losses are not caused by us.
13. Termination
You may stop using Sling at any time and delete your account and content from Settings → your account → Delete account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms or if we are required to by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (for example sections 4, 10, 11 and 12) will survive.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the country in which you are habitually resident, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute may be brought in the courts of that country. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your local law.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, give notice in the app or by another reasonable means. Continuing to use Sling after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
